Snapchat is a mobile based app
which is compatible with iOS and Android. The users can snap a photo or a
10-second video and send it to a friend. After the recipient viewing it, the
snap disappears unless the user takes a photo. It is developed by Snapchat, Inc and the newest version is 9.17.0.0 which
was updated on October 14, 2015 and October 13, 2015 on iOS and Android platform, respectively. It offers 22 language versions and the
size of the app is 65.4 MB and 27 MB on iOS and Android platform, respectively. This app is free of charge but offers in-app purchases.[1]
Snapchat is more and more popular
among young teenagers these days. Teenagers can share their happy moment by
sending photos and videos among their friends. By tap to capture a photo and
tap and hold to capture a maximum 10-second video, you can share your happiness
with your friends. According to official claims, the good news is the recipient
cannot save the photos or videos receiving from Snapchat, so other people have
no chance to see what you recorded. But is the privacy protection as effective
as we expected?
Although the snap will disappear automatically
after the recipient viewing it, but the recipient can capture a screen shot or
take a photo by a
camera to keep it on his/her
devices. So the privacy of your photo or video is not 100% guaranteed.
